In the beginning of John Coy’s
lecture, he showed some of his portfolio work from 1969 to now. He was the
first president of AIGA (Association Institute of Graphic Arts). His work was
very clean and very well presented, although I really wished that he discussed
his work a little more because there’s still so much I want to know about his work.
One thing I remember him saying in the lecture that I thought was really
inspirational is that you have to find yourself in order to know what you’re
going to do on your artwork and your life. I found it inspirational because I strongly
believe that personality is what really defines a person and it’s very
important to show your personality in your artwork so you will be able to tell the audience who you are without having to use words.
